Description of the project:

Products made using several herbal mixtures was studied, and in the last year the algae Spirulina. The characterization and detailed examination of the mixtures themselves was the project task of FINS, while the task of the aforementioned researchers from IMI, was to determine biochemical parameters of the blood of animals before and after treatment as well as profile of fatty acids phospholipids of serum and organs (liver, brain) during following up studies of effects of exanimated products.

Description of the project:

In cooperation with Biochemical Engineering and Biotechnology, Marija Ranić carried out research related to the processes of extraction of biologically active substances within the project in the field of technological development TR31035. Her research included the optimization of methods for extraction of biologically active components of waste coffee, using microwave radiation. The aim of these studies was to test the possibility of full and multiple utilization of waste materials. Obtained data contribute to increase of coffee waste value and reducing the demands, both technical and economic, for its care.

Description of the project:

The subject of the project is research on the intake and status of folate and polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) in the population of Serbia, which entails 1. literature review to identify at-risk population groups with low intake of folate and PUFA, 2. establishment and validation of methods for assessing intake and status , 3. interventional studies on an animal model, 4. determination of the etiopathogenetic, therapeutic and prophylactic effect of PUFA and folate intake in chronic non-communicable diseases on a human model, 5. market research, producer and consumer perception towards foods enriched with folates and PUFA, 6. dissemination of results scientific and general population.
