IMR joins Serbian delegation to the Republic of Korea focused on advancing artificial intelligence

Published 15-06-2026

Dr. Saša Radovanović, Director of the Institute for Medical Research, represented IMR during a working visit to the Republic of Korea, held as part of the 2025/26 KSP with the Republic of Serbia – Interim Reporting & Policy Practitioners’ Workshop.

The Serbian delegation was led by Dr. Marija Gnjatović, State Secretary at the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation. Participants also included Zoran Tomić, Vukica Maričić, and Tamara Bresjanac, representing institutions involved in the development of science and technology policy, research, and innovation.

The visit focused on exchanging experience in artificial intelligence, digital transformation, innovation, and science and technology policy, with particular attention to how the Republic of Korea connects the public sector, research capacity, and technological development.

During the visit to Seoul, the delegation met with institutions and organizations that play an important role in the development and application of artificial intelligence, including the Seoul AI Foundation, National Information Society Agency, KISTEP, AI Safety Institute, LG CNS Physical AI Lab, Gyeonggido Business & Science Accelerator, Kyung Hee Pangyo VI Campus, and Korea University.

For the Institute for Medical Research, this exchange is important because modern biomedical research increasingly relies on large-scale data analysis, predictive modeling, digital study design, and the assessment of new healthcare solutions. The experience of the Republic of Korea points to the importance of clear public policies, responsible use of artificial intelligence, and stronger links between research institutions and the technology and innovation ecosystem.
