The participation of оur colleagues from the group for Nutritional Biochemistry and Dietology at SYMBIOTECH24 – Second International Symposium on Biotechnology

Institute for Medical Research is pleased to inform the public that our colleagues Dr. Snježana Petrović and Dr. Aleksandra Arsić from the Group for Nutritional Biochemistry and Dietology participated at the invitation of the organizers at the meeting “2nd International Symposium on Biotechnology; 29th Symposium on Biotechnology with International”. The meeting was held at the Faculty of Agriculture in Čačak, University of Kragujevac, from March 14 to 15, 2024.

Dr. Petrović, as part of the Nutrition session chaired by Prof. Dr. Vladimir Jakovljević, Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Kragujevac, held a lecture entitled “Polyphenol-rich black currant juice ameliorates metabolic syndrome induced by high-fat high-fructose diet in rats”, which spoke about the beneficial effects of black currant juice in the prevention metabolic syndrome. The lecture aroused great interest due to the ever-current topic of improving nutrition, as well as the results that unequivocally indicate the potential of black currant in this field.

Dr. Arsić’s lecture, entitled “Effects of pomegranate juice on lipid metabolism in women with dyslipidemia and metabolic syndrome”, was held within the same session. The lecture pointed out the great potential of pomegranate in reducing risk factors for the development of cardiovascular events in people with hyperlipidemia and those with metabolic syndrome. A dynamic discussion followed, which resulted in an exchange of ideas and useful suggestions for future development and continued research.
