The Rector of the University of Belgrade, Prof Vladan Djokic visited the Institute for Medical Research on December 27, 2023. During his visit, he had a productive meeting with the Institute Director, Dr Sasa Radovanovic, and the Institute’s researchers. On this occasion, he also visited several of the Institute’s research laboratories.

The Institute for Medical Research currently employs 104 people, about 70 percent of whom are PhDs. An additional 16 of our colleagues are currently pursuing PhD studies. During the meeting, discussions were held about the status of our PhD students and about mentorships during the preparation of dissertations. Important topics were also raised about the teaching status and role of our researchers at the University of Belgrade, as well as about the participation of our researchers in the Erasmus program.

The Institute for Medical Research is currently implementing three international scientific projects and three more have recently been approved for the next period (through the Horizon, Horizon Europe, and Twinning programs). These projects, together with six more accepted by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia, are taking the Institute to the new level of success.

Rector Djokic congratulated the Director and researchers of the Institute on the successes they have achieved in the previous period and emphasized that the University of Belgrade will provide even stronger support to the Institute for Medical Research in Belgrade, as well as to other scientific institutes within its composition.
