Leading Institution: Institute for Medical Research, University of Belgrade, Serbia

Description of the project:

TWINNIBS, a project aimed at strengthening the Institute for Medical Research’s (IMR) research and innovation (R&I) capacities, is set to transform Serbia’s neuroscience research by focusing on non-invasive brain stimulation (NIBS). NIBS techniques modulate the activity in specific brain areas and large-scale brain networks to treat neuropsychiatric conditions. TWINNIBS will coordinate with leading R&I institutions from Denmark, Italy, Germany, and Austria to conduct collaborative small-scale projects, with the personalization of NIBS as an overarching theme. The project includes a comprehensive set of cooperation and coordination activities to strengthen the scientific and technological capacities of IMR. TWINNIBS will establish the Centre for NIBS and R&I Project Management Unit within the IMR to foster organizational changes and strengthen research management and administration capacities. The project’s impact will be significant, not just in scientific, economic/technological and societal outcomes, but also in the long-term R&I of the Western Balkans region.
