The Institute for Medical Research joined this year’s Serbia Business Run, held on September 24 at Ada Ciganlija. For the second consecutive year, colleagues across research groups and professional teams stepped outside their usual research and operational settings and came together on the five-kilometer course.
Beyond the race, IMR used the event as an early introduction to the content prepared for European Researchers’ Night. The focus was ticks, explored through the One Health framework, which views human, animal, and environmental health as interconnected rather than separate.
The activity brought prevention into a hands-on setting. Visitors explored tick anatomy and life stages under a stereomicroscope. At the same time, IMR researchers translated current knowledge into practical guidance on exposure, safe removal, and reducing the risk of tick bites and tick-borne infections. The format connected a familiar seasonal concern with the wider dynamics of vectors, environmental change, and public health.
