Colleagues from the Group for cardiovascular physiology, Dr. Nevena Mihailovic-Stanojevic, Dr. Danijela Karanovic, and Dr. Una-Jovana Vajic participated in the “9th European Section Meeting of the International Academy of Cardiovascular Sciences”, which took place from 4 to 7 October 2023 in Timisoara, Romania.
Dr. Mihailovic-Stanojevic held an oral presentation on “Caffeic acid improves antioxidant defense and attenuates oxidative stress in heart of spontaneously hypertensive rat” in the Session “Myocardial Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury: Mechanisms and Cardioprotective Strategies”.
Within the Symposia “Natural compounds in cardiovascular protection”, Dr. Karanovic presented the results of the research “Natural versus synthetic antioxidant supplementation of losartan treatment in experimental model of hypertension and chronic kidney disease: Is together better?” in poster presentation.
Furthermore, Dr. Karanovic won the award “Miloslav Kostic Poster Award” for this poster presentation. During the same poster session, Dr. Vajic presented the results of a study entitled “Effects of chronic supplementation with Urtica dioica L. leaf extract and chlorogenic acid on hemodynamic and biochemical parameters in spontaneously hypertensive rats“. Our colleagues made successful contacts with the ones from the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina for future collaborations in the field of cardiovascular and renal pathophysiology.
