IMR Joins the Global Initiative to Establish the World Shiology Organization

Published 24-02-2026

The Institute for Medical Research (IMR) has been invited to join the founding process of the World Shiology Organization (WSO), following the recognized contribution of its researchers, Jelena Milešević and Marija Knez, from the Group for Nutrition and Metabolism, to the Global Food Systems and the Sustainable Development Goals Report.

Over the past year, Milešević and Knez were part of an international team working on the report within a project led by the Shiology Research Center at Renmin University of China, the Beijing Institute of Shiology Research, and the Secretariat of the World Shiology Forum. Their work focused on nutrition, health, and sustainable food systems.

Shiology is a Chinese integrative discipline that examines principles of food governance, dietary patterns, human health, and the social models that emerge around food systems. This research framework closely aligns with the interdisciplinary approaches IMR has been developing to explore how nutrition and dietary patterns shape health outcomes.
