Kristina Jevremović, a member of the Group for Medical Entomology, represented the Institute for Medical Research at two major international scientific events in China, showcasing the Institute’s research and innovation potential.

As an invited speaker, Kristina participated in the Sixth Annual Conference of Pan-Balkan Alliance of Natural Products and Drug Discovery (PANDA) and the UNESCO Regional Network Seminar for Natural Products Chemistry, held from October 26–29 at the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica (SIMM).

During a session focused on biotechnological approaches and the use of natural products in preventing and treating infectious diseases, she delivered a lecture titled “In vitro evaluation of probiotic preparations to causative agent of Lyme borreliosis.”

The conference brought together researchers from PANDA and UNESCO member countries to discuss the discovery and synthesis of bioactive compounds, the pharmacological and metabolic studies of natural products, and the integration of traditional and modern medicine. The program also highlighted advances in biotechnological and analytical methods, as well as the application of artificial intelligence in pharmacognosy.

Also, Kristina joined the World Young Scientist Summit (WYSS 2025) in Wenzhou, China, on October 23–24, as an invited participant of the PANDA Alliance. The event gathered young researchers from around the world to share ideas and experiences. Participants also visited several pharmaceutical companies in Zhejiang Province, where they learned about innovative approaches and best practices in developing natural medicines.

IMR’s participation in these international events reinforces its growing role within the global biomedical research community and underscores the importance of cross-border collaboration in biological, biomedical, and pharmaceutical sciences.
