The Institute for Medical Research (IMR) participated in the 67th International Fair of Technics and Technical Achievements, held from May 20 to 23 at the Belgrade Fair. As part of the national exhibition “Step into a Sustainable Future”, the Institute presented advances in personalized medicine and laboratory diagnostics.

Dr. Milica Kojadinović from the Nutritional Biochemistry and Dietology Group introduced nutrigenetics as an emerging research field where interdisciplinary teams at IMR investigate the interactions between genetic variations and dietary factors. She emphasized the role of nutrigenetic analysis in integrating individual genetic profiles with clinical expertise to generate tailored dietary guidelines. This approach has potential applications in preventive medicine, dietary therapy, and nutrition counselling, supporting the development of more precise and sustainable nutritional strategies.

Another innovation presented at the fair was a diagnostic ELISA test developed by Dr. Tijana Subotički from the Molecular Oncology Group. The test is designed to detect activation of the JAK2/STAT3 signaling pathway in myeloproliferative neoplasms, including cases with the so-called triple-negative phenotype, a diagnostic challenge due to the absence of common genetic markers.

The event allowed IMR researchers to engage in discussions with representatives from academia, industry, and potential partners. Several concrete conversations were initiated around the commercial application of scientific results, highlighting the Institute’s growing role in translating research into viable biomedical solutions.
