Dr. Vesna Vučić’s Lecture: Synergistic Education for Parents of Children with Developmental Disabilities – Insights from Erasmus+ Projects

Published 18-02-2025

On February 14, the Institute for Medical Research hosted a lecture by Dr. Vesna Vučić, project leader of the Erasmus+ initiative SynergyEd, as part of the Scientific Seminar Series.

Developed in collaboration with the Macedonian Organization for Applied Psychology and the Catholic University of Croatia, this project focused on strengthening the parental capacities of children with developmental disabilities through professional support and education.

“Parents and guardians are our key partners. Together with educators and professionals, they create and nurture an environment where their children can reach their full potential. This program equips them with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to fulfill this role in the best possible way,” said Dr. Vučić, who is also Head of the Research Group for Nutritional Biochemistry and Dietology and coordinator of the Center of Research Excellence for Nutrition and Metabolism at the Institute for Medical Research.

As part of SynergyEd, project collaborators developed a comprehensive parental guide, compiling essential information in one place.

“This is the first partnership in Southeast Europe to develop a complete training program for parents, offering both in-person and e-learning options. By combining evidence-based, interactive, and hybrid methods, we’ve created a structured and effective educational model,” Vučić added.

Beyond connecting professionals and parents, SynergyEd has initiated continuous education and laid the groundwork for future initiatives of this kind.
